“A cause of action for nonpayment on a promissory note is one for breach of contract.” FPI Development, Inc. v. Nakashima, 231 Cal.App.3d 367, 383 (1991).
A cause of action for breach of contract requires four elements:
(1) a contract;

(3) defendant's breach; and
(4) damages.
